Are you experiencing any of the following?

The summer is the time for vacations, with numerous people loading their suitcases and setting off.

When we’re on the move, whether by plane or car, it’s crucial not to overlook our ear health during our trips; after all, neglecting it could spoil your holiday!

It’s a smart move to have your ears examined before you leave for your vacation to catch any issues early.

There are several ways summer travel might affect your ear health. For instance, the changes in air pressure, particularly during takeoff and landing on a plane, could cause short-term hearing problems or discomfort. In some instances, this could lead to a condition called ‘airplane ear.’ Being exposed to loud sounds while traveling, like in busy places, might also affect your ear health, leading to tinnitus and other related problems.

Yet, one of the main reasons for ear health issues during travel is due to water getting into the ear canal. This could happen while swimming in a pool, sea, or at a water park. Although it might not seem like a big deal, when water gets into the ear canal, it can cause infections and swelling.

Even a small amount of ear wax can block water from escaping, which can be aggravated by the pressure changes in an airplane. A quick check can reveal if there’s any wax, and then the right treatment can be administered promptly.
